Every recovery situation has the potential for personal injury. In order to minimise that risk, it is important to familiarise yourself with the proper operation of your recovery equipment before using it, and be constantly safety oriented. -
High StrengthEngineer rated to 4,500kg WLL (1.5 times GVM of WK2). 1.5 times GVM is considered the engineering minimum standard for recovery hooks. A 3,000kg GVM vehicle stuck in deep mud/sand needs a high-strength recovery hook to safely withstand the forces encountered during recovery. Our engineer rating jumps to 8,000kg when our recovery hooks are used as a pair with a bridle strap.
Winch CompatibilityIf you're installing a winch (or plan to be recovered by one) you'll want a recovery hook that is up to the task. For a 10,000lb winch you'll want a recovery hook with a minimum WLL of 4,500kg.
SafetyIn addition to the engineer rated design, our recovery hooks also features a 5mm radius on all exposed edges. This ensures safe use with soft shackle recovery gear, while also meeting the required government safety standards (Australian Design Rules as well as various European Pedestrian Safety Standards). Finally, while our recovery hook protrudes through the opening in the lower fascia for easy attachment of recovery gear, it doesn't extend beyond the front most part of the bumper.
Ease Of UseThe open ended recovery hook makes it quick and easy to attach recovery gear (especially important when you need to be recovered quickly). The recovery hook protrudes far enough beyond the lower fascia to ensure side recoveries are easily possible.
CompatibilityEngineered to be 100% compatible with all of our products, as well as all of your Jeep's safety systems. Designed so they can be easily installed on either side of the vehicle (Drivers or Passengers).
Easy To InstallWe provide easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. If you're half-way decent with a wrench you can easily install this yourself. We've even designed the mounting brackets so they're reversible, to make things as easy as possible.
Industry Leading Corrosion ProtectionWe utilise E-Coat (Electrophoretic Coating) to provide the very highest corrosion protection available for steel automotive parts. Deposited from a water-based solution using a high voltage DC charge, the process coats all wet surfaces with an extremely tough and highly corrosion resistant finish that is unlike any other process. On top of that industry-leading electrophoretic coating we apply 80µm of extremely durable powder coat (advanced polyester thermosetting powder). Finally, whenever possible we build our products with highly corrosion resistant materials and fasteners (stainless steel, aluminium alloys, etc.) to provide enduring protection against corrosion when a coating is scratched or damaged off-road.

Instructions were spot on, only thing I would add to them would be to drop the front belly pan so you can have full unobstructed access to properly torque the driver side bolts. The materials themselves used for the hooks, spacers, and hardware are very heavy duty and robust. Definitely a major upgrade over the Rough Country version. Only complaints would be that the textured black finish cracks/peels during installation revealing a glossy black finish and the tow hooks stick out a little too far should probably go back about a half an inch to blend in with the vehicle more. However, I realize they stick out that far so you can add a nudge bar in the future.

I bought a pair of red for my wife’s 2020 Limited nearly two years ago and finally got put on my honey-do-list. I am pleasantly surprised with how easy they were to install and how nice they look. A big brand off-road shop quoted me $700 for 4 hours of labor to install them and I was floored. I just couldn’t see why it would take so long and figured the worst thing that could happen is I mess up a piece of plastic. In my driveway, at night, with a couple of 16mm wrenches and I got them installed in less than two hours (fascia cut out time w/ the wrong tool included). And that’s with my old fat butt having to get crawl around on the ground blindly feeling for bolt holes. If I had a proper shop and was 30yrs younger, I could’ve easily done it in 30-45 minutes.
The only problem I ran into is there is absolutely nothing for the “strengthening bolt” on the very front hole to bolt up to. I don’t know if it’s to do with my specific model, but there is just empty space above that hole. I figure that they’re sturdy enough to get us out of a jam and mostly for looks anyway. Hell, that Jeep barely leaves the pavement in the first place.
Overall, they’re pretty great! Definitely worth the price.

Wow, these are way more hefty than I anticipated! I have a **2016 WK2 Overland High Altitude** and offroad occasionally. Fortunately have never needed to be pulled out, but feared the day when I might have needed a pull from the front with no recovery hooks.
I purchased a single hook to install on the passenger side. Much to my surprise the 2016 High Altitude has the plastic access cover on the passenger side, but nothing exists behind it in the factory location. This meant none of the first few installation steps applied to my vehicle AND I didn't have to cut anything because it fit perfectly within the factory access cover void after it is removed!!! I was also able to install without having to remove the lower fascia, I simply worked the pieces and bolts into place while wiggling around underneath the front end. Installation completed in about 30 minutes. No issues getting soft shackles onto the hook.
Could not be happier with the end result, awesome quality product. Now trying to decide if I need to add one on the driver's side to even things out (which would require cutting because there is no access cover on that side). Happy customer! :)

These hooks are well worth the price. Way sturdier than the OEM versions, which look like toys in comparison. I've also hooked them up to a winch and used them to pull without issue. They look great integrated with the Nudge Bar.

MODULAR DESIGNOur modular engineering approach allow us to deliver a roof rack system that can be easily adapted to any situation. It also means you can upgrade-downgrade your roof rack any time your needs require.
HIGH-STRENGTHAll versions deliver industry leading load ratings. These ratings were independently tested and the test results are certified to comply with Australian Standard (AS 1235-2000) as well as international standards (ISO / PAS 11154 : 2009:2006) and (DIN 75302/02: 1991). During independent testing, our roof rack system successfully withstood 330kg of upward force, 600kg of forward force (including a special 20° off-axis test). To achieve our certification we needed to have less than 10mm of movement in our structure at the tested loads, we had 0.17mm!
One of the keys to our industry leading load ratings is our Mounting Rails. Not only do they transfer forces to the strongest points on the vehicle roof, they also utilise a boxed design that resists deformation at any singular point. This unique design element creates a 'mounting system’ that is much stronger than any of our competitors.
LOW WEIGHTWe utilise the latest manufacturing techniques and aircraft-grade aluminium alloys to deliver a roof rack system with an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio. This means our roof rack has an extremely low weight, while still being the very strongest on the market.
STEALTHChief Products roof racks are engineered to be extremely aerodynamic (smooth top surface, low profile design and hidden fasteners). These unique aerodynamic features make our roof racks extremely quiet for the majority of our customers. However, the more wind you have the more wind noise will increase. For customers that live in high-wind areas or regularly drive at high-speeds (120kmh+) we've developed a Stealth Air Dam (included with every set of Mounting Rails) that significantly reduces the noise caused by high-velocity air flows. Best of all, this wind noise performance improvement is accomplished utilising a product that mounts out-of-sight (ensuring it doesn't inhibit use of your rack, or obscure views out of your sunroof).
Our roof racks deliver an experience with no creaking, no rattling, and very low wind noise. We accomplish these amazing feats through a series of technologically advanced aerodynamic methods, along with some proven old school tech (rubber isolators).
LOW PROFILEOur roof racks are engineered to sit incredibly low at only 86mm above the roofline. We looked at mounting even closer to the vehicle, but during our real-world testing we found it was helpful to have a slight gap between the roof and the rack, so you can slip a hand underneath the rack to wash your roof.

We provide (2) full-length channels in each plank, enabling you to use T-Nuts that slide the entire length of the Planks. Even better, is our industry leading Tie-Down Plates and Anchor Points. They provide numerous mounting options and easily slide and clamp between the Planks.
TIE-DOWN PLATESOne of the primary usability goals for our roof racks, was that you could easily bolt/fasten/tie-down to the rack at almost any location. Our custom engineered Tie-Down Plates deliver on that goal. They clamp securely between the Planks in a way that allows them to easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks. The centre acts as an easy tie-down location, while the slots on either end hold captive T-Nuts (M6, M8 & M10) that can be used to fasten/bolt just about any accessory you can find. Best of all, when clamped in place they sit completely flush, providing a completely smooth top surface for your platform.
NEARLY UNLIMITED ACCESSORY MOUNTING LOCATIONSWe provide heaps of mounting locations so you can easily mount accessories anywhere. To achieve that goal, we've engineered Planks you can move wherever you need them. Then we've provided two full-length channels in each Plank for captive T-Nuts, allowing you to bolt/fasten to the Plank at any point along the entire length of the Plank. Finally, for maximum flexibility we've delivered Tie-Down Plates that can easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks.
COMPATIBLE WITH MOST ACCESSORIESIf the accessory uses M6, M8 or M10 bolts for mounting, it will probably work with our roof rack system. If not, one of our upcoming adapter kits should take care of business.

HIGH-STRENGTHAll versions deliver industry leading load ratings. These ratings were independently tested and the test results are certified to comply with Australian Standard (AS 1235-2000) as well as international standards (ISO / PAS 11154 : 2009:2006) and (DIN 75302/02: 1991). During independent testing, our roof rack system successfully withstood 330kg of upward force, 600kg of forward force (including a special 20° off-axis test). To achieve our certification we needed to have less than 10mm of movement in our structure at the tested loads, we had 0.17mm!

For customers that live in high-wind areas or regularly drive at high-speeds (120kmh+) we've developed a Stealth Air Dam (included with every set of Mounting Rails) that significantly reduces the noise caused by high-velocity air flows. Best of all, this wind noise performance improvement is accomplished utilising a product that mounts out-of-sight (ensuring it doesn't inhibit use of your rack, or obscure views out of your sunroof).
Our roof racks deliver an experience with no creaking, no rattling, and very low wind noise. We accomplish these amazing feats through a series of technologically advanced aerodynamic methods, along with some proven old school tech (rubber isolators).

We looked at mounting even closer to the vehicle, but during our real-world testing we found it was helpful to have a slight gap between the roof and the rack, so you can slip a hand underneath the rack to wash your roof.

They provide numerous mounting options and easily slide and clamp between the Planks.
TIE-DOWN PLATESOne of the primary usability goals for our roof racks, was that you could easily bolt/fasten/tie-down to the rack at almost any location. Our custom engineered Tie-Down Plates deliver on that goal. They clamp securely between the Planks in a way that allows them to easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks. The centre acts as an easy tie-down location, while the slots on either end hold captive T-Nuts (M6, M8 & M10) that can be used to fasten/bolt just about any accessory you can find. Best of all, when clamped in place they sit completely flush, providing a completely smooth top surface for your platform.
NEARLY UNLIMITED ACCESSORY MOUNTING LOCATIONSWe provide heaps of mounting locations so you can easily mount accessories anywhere. To achieve that goal, we've engineered Planks you can move wherever you need them. Then we've provided two full-length channels in each Plank for captive T-Nuts, allowing you to bolt/fasten to the Plank at any point along the entire length of the Plank. Finally, for maximum flexibility we've delivered Tie-Down Plates that can easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks.
COMPATIBLE WITH MOST ACCESSORIESIf the accessory uses M6, M8 or M10 bolts for mounting, it will probably work with our roof rack system. If not, one of our upcoming adapter kits should take care of business.

INDUSTRY LEADING CORROSION PROTECTIONWe utilise aircraft-grade aluminium alloys (highly corrosion resistant) for all of the major components of our roof rack system (with a layer of UV stable highly durable powder coat to provide additional protection). For all of our steel parts we utilise E-Coat (Electrophoretic Coating) to provide the very highest corrosion protection available for steel automotive parts, then we add a layer of UV stable powder coat on top for additional protection. All of the included fasteners are protected as well - black zinc plating, zinc flake coatings, black oxide coatings or sometimes we just choose to use stainless steel fasteners. EASILY MOUNT ACCESSORIESWe make it extremely easy to mount your accessories and bring your gear with you. We provide (2) full-length channels in each plank, enabling you to use T-Nuts that slide the entire length of the Planks. Even better, is our industry leading Tie-Down Plates and Anchor Points. They provide numerous mounting options and easily slide and clamp between the Planks.
TIE-DOWN PLATESOne of the primary usability goals for our roof racks, was that you could easily bolt/fasten/tie-down to the rack at almost any location. Our custom engineered Tie-Down Plates deliver on that goal. They clamp securely between the Planks in a way that allows them to easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks. The centre acts as an easy tie-down location, while the slots on either end hold captive T-Nuts (M6, M8 & M10) that can be used to fasten/bolt just about any accessory you can find. Best of all, when clamped in place they sit completely flush, providing a completely smooth top surface for your platform.
NEARLY UNLIMITED ACCESSORY MOUNTING LOCATIONSWe provide heaps of mounting locations so you can easily mount accessories anywhere. To achieve that goal, we've engineered Planks you can move wherever you need them. Then we've provided two full-length channels in each Plank for captive T-Nuts, allowing you to bolt/fasten to the Plank at any point along the entire length of the Plank. Finally, for maximum flexibility we've delivered Tie-Down Plates that can easily move and fasten anywhere along the entire length of the Planks.
COMPATIBLE WITH MOST ACCESSORIESIf the accessory uses M6, M8 or M10 bolts for mounting, it will probably work with our roof rack system. If not, one of our upcoming adapter kits should take care of business.
INNOVATIVE SUITE OF ACCESSORIESChief Products engineering team has already started work on several innovative accessories to further expand the functionality of our roof rack system. Taking advantage of our ground-up approach and modular design is allowing us to develop roof rack accessories that no one has ever seen before.
INDUSTRY LEADING CORROSION PROTECTIONWe utilise aircraft-grade aluminium alloys (highly corrosion resistant) for all of the major components of our roof rack system (with a layer of UV stable highly durable powder coat to provide additional protection). For all of our steel parts we utilise E-Coat (Electrophoretic Coating) to provide the very highest corrosion protection available for steel automotive parts, then we add a layer of UV stable powder coat on top for additional protection. All of the included fasteners are protected as well - black zinc plating, zinc flake coatings, black oxide coatings or sometimes we just choose to use stainless steel fasteners. Our aim is to keep your roof rack looking great for many years to come.
EASY TO INSTALLEasy bolt-on installation with no drilling. In addition, our bracketry is fully adjustable so it adapts to your roof.
TOP QUALITY FINISHING TOUCHESWe include all the details that matter. High tensile bolts for maximum strength. Wedge-Lock washers to create bolted joints that are extremely resistant to loosening (critical to combat loosening from off-roading vibrations). Anti-Seize for bolted joints that are resistant to seizing (important for a product that sits on your roof fully exposed to the elements). A Chief Products Shop Rag for all the dirty jobs around the garage. All packaged with extreme care to arrive safely and looking great.
We even include a few details you might not appreciate right away. For instance, if you’re installing lights, we provide channels in our mounting rails to run your wiring, (we even provide small holes for your zip ties, so you can hold your wiring up out of sight). -
